REDONDO BEACH, CA -- A man in a stolen vehicle ditched it in Manhattan Beach and ran into a hotel in the 900 block of North Sepulveda Boulevard in Manhattan Beach Tuesday morning, April 20, according to Redondo Beach Police.

The incident began around 7:15 a.m. in north Redondo Beach when RBPD located a vehicle reported stolen from San Jose, CA. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver led them on a chase from the area of Artesia and Aviation boulevards to the hotel in Manhattan Beach.

With the assistance of witnesses and security cameras, officers were able to narrow down the suspect's location to a hotel room in the hotel complex. Police had already set up a containment area.

Members of the RBPD's Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) team attempted to contact the suspect inside the hotel room and finally succeeded. The suspect, Ryan Cross, 39, of Colorado Springs, CO, surrendered.

Cross was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle and evading police officers. He was booked at the Redondo Beach Police Department with a current bail amount of $75,000. He is presently scheduled to appear in court pending the filing of charges with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office on April 22, 2021.
