A 32-year-old man pleaded not guilty today to assaulting and robbing another man at a bar on Labor Day, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced.

David Delgado (dob 7/20/87) of Winnetka entered the plea after being charged with one felony count each of second-degree robbery, assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury and battery with serious bodily injury.

A criminal complaint also alleges that the defendant personally inflicted great bodily injury.

Delgado is scheduled back in court on Oct. 18 for a preliminary hearing in Department 8 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Torrance Branch.

On Sept. 2, Delgado allegedly approached a man in a restroom at a Hermosa Beach bar and asked him what was written on the hat he was wearing. The victim responded and the defendant allegedly became angry and physically assaulted the man resulting in serious injuries, prosecutors said.

Delgado was arrested at his residence on Oct. 1.

Bail is set at $90,000. If convicted as charged, he faces a possible maximum sentence of nine years in state prison.

The case remains under investigation by the Hermosa Beach Police Department.
