Along a seaside race course on a warm February morning, runners, walkers, babies in buggies, and spectators gathered to kick off Super Bowl Sunday in a festive tradition.
The 38th Annual Super Bowl Sunday Race in Redondo Beach brought out costumed participants in a costume contest, and competitors in a 5K, 10K, and 10K Buggy Race on Sunday, Feb. 7.
Stewart Harwell, 31, of Redondo Beach won the 10K in a time of 32 minutes, 25 seconds. Eric Bjork, 31, of Hermosa Beach finished 6th in 35:17.
Juliet Schaub, 9, of HB finished in a dazzling 35:56, according to online race results. Eleven-year-old Sophia Safa of Manhattan Beach finished in 45:33, taking first place in her age division.
Beckett Schaub, 7, of HB was the youngest male to cross the finish line, in a time of 35:59.
